Montreal Withdraws bid from hosting Gay Games
After protracted contract negotiations, Montreal withdrew from hosting the Gay Games and the rival host cities were asked to re-bid, including Chicago and LA. Montreal will host their own event but it will not include sailing.

The vote to replace Racquetball with Rowing which was due to be completed at the end of December has been deferred while further discussion and investigations takes place by the Sports Committee and the Montreal Organizers.

The reason for the postponement is that there has been an additional suggestion that Physique be moved from the list of 22 core sports to be a demonstration sport due to the problems of policing drug use by competitors.

In addition some Federation members were unhappy that Rowing was the only sport to be considered as a replacement event.

Montreal Sailing
We have found a number of gay sailors in the Montreal area who are interested in forming a sailing group - but more are needed so let me know of any contacts you may have.

We have also found a sailing club who is prepared to host the regatta if we can find a source of boats - all suggestions welcomed.
